Enjoy Traveling by Train
I don't fly, and I refuse to fly. So I always take the train. I remember one summer while living in California, I took my children and we went on a five day train vacation. We Travel to Florida then up to New York City. We did have a private room on this trip, but what a blast we had. I will tell you how to enjoy this way of traveling and the reason it is so important.
· The second reason, is that I love the train, it reminds me of Norman Rockwell, small America, farmers, sales people, housewife's, grandmothers, people that are scared to fly or that love the train. The only reason I have stopped traveling via train is because they don't allow dogs, and I will not go anywhere with out baby. If you haven't done this in your life, I suggest you take a wonderful journey on Amtrak. Go to the discount location on their website, round trip from Colorado to San Francisco was $89.00 I took my blanket and pillow, my little dog sits on my lap, I have a bag full of food and my knitting. So think about these ideas. And, save lots of money if you need to travel.
Amtrak website, it so simple you can pick times, find special deals that works with your budget and see a map on all the different routes. Really it is fun to work with the site and to try different times, places, get prices and all around an A+ website. Many people save a lot of money by bring their own lunches and have enough food for the trip. Not me, I bring snakes, but I love the dinning car and have met the most wonderful people that you sit with.
Looking at the wonderful views.
What a joy this can be, when I have traveled alone, just stay in the main car, for a nice an comfortable two day trip. The sets goes back enough for sleeping, but I always bring a blanket and pillow. There is also a social car, it was once the smoking car, but those days are over. This car has a glass dome where you can see America, our country, play cards, games or just talk to the people that are more social, if you like to stay to yourself, just stay in your set and read and nap. Also, for family's that travel with their children, there are many rules and the kids are usually quit and good, the parent's bring them games and toys, or they spend a lot of time in the club car.
When people fly from here to there, they never see anything but clouds and an airport terminal. When you travel on the train you see our country, you see the wonder world, this is God's country. It is a beautiful site. I have fun and enjoy the train, and I feel it is one adventure everyone should try in their lifetime.
Tips:· To Save Money, and stick with your budget, try to plan way ahead, check out all the special that Amtrak offers. They are get at getting back to you if you need to ask a question.
- · They also have a handicap car that is very nice.
- · Remember it will cost you a lot more money to stay in a Private room.
- · At this time they only take dogs for the blind.
- · If you budget is tight, bring your own lunch, dinner and snacks.

I enjoyed reading your hub as it brought back memories of our traveling from Denver to Osceola Iowa by amtrak--I remember what a delight it was to wake up at pre-dawn and stroll to the dining car and order breakfast as we whizzed through the woods of eastern Nebrask along the mighty Missouri River.
