Writing, Writing and more Writing

How I came to Start Writing, this is my second story for the 30 day challange

To my Dear Friends and fellow hubbers and writings, I am going to try to do this. I'm just not sure what kind of stuff my head is full of, so I am going to try day events and long lost memories that I so pray that I do not bore you.

I want to talk about writing, I'm not here to promote my children's story, but I am here to tell people that it is so awesome to write, I feel so fortunate that my words fill me. I know how to articulate myself through writing, I write "how to" articles other distinctive sites, I consider and receive a sense of pleasure, as well as it does pay well. I am a disabled young senior that possess all the time to sit and write. Sometimes disappear, at this juncture, to my office and become so involved in my writings, ops it's dark outside and my cat is in my face meowing "well you feed me, right now". And, then my dog is taking my sleeve, pulling me to the front door, it's time to take a walk.

After that, all of a sudden the next day I think okay I will spend more time with my pets, as it is, they each have a bed on my desk and I made a shelf, which I cover with a warm blanket, so the can sit there during the day looking out the window, my dog barks at anything that moves and with the heavy snow out there it must only be a squirrel or a fox. Each pet arranges their position close to me while I work. And, I love to write in silence, but during this serious winter months, it does get gloomy and occasionally it’s problematical to get in the frame of mind to write.

By no means, did I ever want to write, I wrote observations, my thoughts and comma's and English just bored me so I would run on my sentences like a third grader. Consequently, I proceeded on my vacation to Sedona, Arizona. I immediately sat on my favorite huge boulder, looking out over the red rock canyon valley. That is when I paid attention to it to, not like a burning bush and not a load voice deeply reaching out to me. No, not anything like that, I recollect getting ready to leave to go home, this was in 1993. On the way home I said to my boyfriend, “Jim, I have to write a book”, we had been together about three years at this point time.

He was curious, where did I get that brainstorm, I never express that desire before. I explained it was reminiscent of understanding a thought, and the thought was strong and firm, I was enlightened to do this. The particulars were brief; I just knew it transpired to be about a little black dog, a tiny dog that would be able to fit in the palm of your hand.

Jim had to leave for business the follow week he traveled to Vienna then to South Africa. During his absence, I was working as a black jack dealer, at that time we were on the table 30 minutes on and off 30 minutes, this was a new gaming town in Cripple Creek, Colorado. I will write about this amazing town in its rich history in another article.

During my breaks, I would lug this note pad and pen everywhere I went, I would go down stairs to a soothing corner and my hand wouldt started scribbling. My hand was moving so swiftly, I would just be flipping pages. It reached the point where I had heaps of notes and just threw the papers in a corning at my home office. But, every night, at work on my breaks, this writing was so intense. I presumed that I did not have a map on where this story was going, it had, no middle, beginning and end.

When Jim finally came home, he sat down at my computer and took all my piles of notes and progressed entering the whole lot into the computer. We worked on this project for days, piecing out all this information like a puzzle. Once it was put together, my mouth just dropped. It was simply amazing. Then we would seize our days off work and go on escapade, one place was Grand Lakes, Colorado. It is only open possibly two months out of the year, and we hiked into the most alive forest that anyone would be awed by the experience, eternally blessed to be there standing in this preteen world, and the only place that has a natural lake in the state of Colorado..

I would ruminate like the children in my story and I started picking up feathers, rocks, wild blue berries, and blue bell flowers. There were lots of berries and a colossal waterfall, rushing down from countless routes and pouring forth to create foam and mist. We sat on a large boulder and just watched the force of the water rushing down as the snow was melting from the higher elevations. You could feel the force and feel the mist of the water smashing into the boulders below. Looking through this mist was so many rainbows forming all around us.

Jim moved to South Africa, he was such a great guy, but I moved back to Palm Springs, California and went back to college. I was obsessed with English; it was something I loathed when I was younger. Then going back when I was older I gained knowledge and enjoyed learning English, My teachers were all awesome, I was determined to get my degree in English.

My book sat in my computer from 1993 until 2008 when a publisher loved my work and now it is published. So I give this first book to God, because I think he wrote the book. I tried to create a Native American culture into my story, however I acquire myself, mystifying to me, a Catholic publisher, and I tolerated the changes she requested. And, now it is an even better book. That is my story about how I got right back on track to write. Then there was NO stopping me. Like James Taylor said, "I'm a steam roller baby, and I will roll right over you".

Darlene - Great Hub and congratulations on your book.

I saw your invitation on my Hub "Honoring Dogs During Chinese New Year Festival" to join you in the 30 Hubs in 30 Days Challenge and think I will give it a try again. I tried it last year when Ryan Huffer first launched it but didn't make it. I still have a full plate with my job, part-time teaching and trying to get a network marketing business off the ground in addition to HubPages, but think it would be good to practice coming up with ideas faster and writing shorter Hubs on a daily basis for a while.

I Published the Dogs Hub yesterday (Feb 11th) and am about to post one now for today. To succeed I will have to continue to write and publish one a day from now until March 12th. So, let's go.
